18ct Gold Ra Brooch with Australian Teal Parti Sapphire

£6,650.00

This brooch is actually a pendant.

However, should you wish me to adapt this into a brooch, I will remove the bail and affix a pin to the reverse.

This is a substantial piece, so it will be supplied with a brooch chain to ensure its safety.

This pendant is truly dazzling. The 18ct yellow gold has a buttery golden glow and the teal sapphire is spectacular at 5.6mm.
This piece was created for a god on earth with the sun rays shining out from the sapphire, through the gold and down towards earth and its mortals. It’s very intricate and a delight to behold. This pendant is hand carved and the patterns and motifs are straight out of Tutankhamen’s wardrobe.

This Egyptian inspired 18ct yellow gold and teal sapphire pendant is British designed, British made and will make you feel like an Egyptian goddess. The Ancient Egyptians believed that gold was a heavenly metal and this certainly does look heavenly. The solid 18ct yellow gold and this large sapphire combined glisten as you walk. It is fit for a goddess, whether she is dining in a castle or a front room!

I selected Australian sapphires on a recent trip to Australia and my reasoning is simple. Australian sapphires are some of the best in the world and purchasing materials in the country they were found (fossicking for sapphires) means that I can guarantee the source is reputable and free of forced labour with high standard working conditions.

This 18ct gold sapphire pendant represent something of a coming of age, in a way. I put everything I have into this new collection. I’ll tell you that the journey developing this collection has been an emotional rollercoaster for many reasons.

The collection came into being at Melbourne airport on my way to Tasmania where I saw an article in National Geographic detailing Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb and its treasures. Of course, being Egyptian, I HAD to buy this magazine, and a sketchbook, and pens, on the spot. As I turned each page, patterns literally flew out of the magazine and into my notebook. The adrenaline was real. So, the new collection was born. It was actually a whirlwind my youngest sister and I sat on our flight discussing the different patterns and artefacts in the magazine.

When I got back after the Tassie trip, I showed my dad, who despite spending his life as an Obstetrician is an extremely creative person. Together we discussed the merits of various stones I’d seen in Australia, which is known for its incredible sapphires.

So, this collection embodies family love, shared ancestry, all that glitters AND a wild trip in to the Tassie outback.

These pieces are a part of my family, my loves.

BRAND HISTORY AND ETHICS
The name Seraga comes from the name of my father, Serag, a Coptic Egyptian. He led me through the early part of the path that is my life, encouraging my talents to flourish and so it felt appropriate to name my company after him and the ancestry that has inspired me. In ancient Egypt, jewellery was of huge importance, as was gold and other riches. In particular, I love the ancient technique of granulation, where tiny balls of precious metal are added to the metal surface for decoration. Where possible, I try to combine the luxury of these ancient jewels with the wonder of the natural world, such as ancient English woodland and the beauty of the British seaside.

I believe in the time honoured tradition of my art, that is to make each item with love and the great care it merits. Every piece of jewellery is handmade in my small workshop by the coast in Lyme Regis, Dorset. No piece is exactly the same.

I put a lot of love into each piece I make and I hope you love your piece as much as I enjoyed making it.

With love from Lyme Regis.
