When I first carved my little scarab from a hunk of wax back in November, I didn’t really know what I was going to do with it, but thought….let’s make it something special….and here it is on the bench.
I wanted this piece to have a ‘just excavated’ feel without being dull gold, so I used a high shine only on the wings of the little beetle. I also wanted to make sure the piece retained the naivety of the carved scarabs found in Ancient Egypt. I’ve been collecting tiny scarabs since I was VERY small.
To the ancient Egyptians, scarabs were the bringers of the new day, celebrated for rolling the new sun into the dawn sky. Not only does he represent the coming of the new day, he also carries a secret message that only the wearer can see.
Gold itself was also highly treasured, representing godliness, wealth and prestige.
These scarab studs are small enough for daily wear, but special enough for that out of the ordinary occasion!

3. How does it arrive? Each item is packaged but not gift wrapped. Comes in a premium hand selected ceramic gift box.
