Caring For Jewellery

We recommend taking special care of your jewellery purchases. Jewellery should be stored in a soft cloth bag when not in use to prevent scraping against other pieces of jewellery. Additionally, silver or lower carats of gold can be sealed inside a ziplock bag to help prevent tarnishing. The higher the carat of gold, the less likely it is to tarnish.

All items are made from sterling silver, fine silver, gold or copper in some cases. Every item is thoroughly polished and cleaned before sending. Please avoid polishing gemstones or immersing them in water.

Silver that isn’t worn, tarnishes! The best way to keep your jewellery looking great is to wear it.

As a rule, all jewellery should be removed in the shower or whilst doing physical labour. Jewellery is sensitive to other chemicals, such as; household cleaner, chlorine, natural skin chemicals, hand lotions etc. All metal jewellery items can be cleaned using regular cleaner, found in any good high street jewellery store.

In the event that your jewellery does tarnish, a cleaning solution such as Goddards will help remove the discolouration. This should not be applied to any stones on the ring as the abrasive particles within the compound damage gemstones.

Caring for copper jewellery is slightly different from silver. Copper tarnishes more quickly than other metals. I supply copper jewellery with a clear lacquer to slow, but not prevent, tarnishing. Over time, your copper jewellery will change colour. To restore a brighter copper colour, there are various copper cleaners available. When using these, you may need to use a soft toothbrush. You can then wash the polish off and re apply a clear lacquer (auto). Otherwise, you can embrace the patina that comes from slowly tarnished copper.
